i think the first thing you gotta do (after watching don cheadle channel kendrick in the 1st half of this video) is put on that cc: button and read exactly what kendrick is saying in this song...CAUSE it is dense! torn between his fame, his expectations, what it means to be a black man in this america, his history, his connection to telling his truths, ALL OF THAT is rolled up in this hard hitting number (does the man even breathe in the 2nd part of this song?) with kendrick doing some of his best raps that defy form. it's kind of awe inspiring really...
